Athletes from across the Peace were at the Legion Track on Saturday contesting the 2014 NW Zone 8 Alberta Summer Games (ASG)Track and Field Trials. After an intense day of competition, a Zone team consisting of 20 boys and 20 girls was named for the Games which take place in Airdrie in late July.

A number of notable performances were posted at the meet. Valleyview’s Tristin Werklund won four events (100, 200, 400, and Triple Jump) in the Youth Men’s division, while 15 year old Alexander Forbes student Kris Baird captured the Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin titles in the Midget Men’s division.
St Joe’s Cianna Forseille, a 4th place finisher in javelin at the 2012 ASG, won a trio of events in the Youth Women’s category (Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin), while Allie Walters was a quadruple winner (Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, and Triple Jump) in the Midget Women’s events.
