The 9th Annual Peace Country Classic (PCC) Track and Field Meet goes Saturday, May 14 at Legion Field and this year’s meet promises to be the biggest and best ever.
While the PCC signals the start of the local high school track and field season, the younger athletes, competing in the GP Hershey Meet categories, and the age 55+ athletes, competing in the AB Senior Games categories, will be prominently featured this year.
The PCC has been selected by Athletics Canada as one of four meets across Canada on May 14 for the inaugural Hershey’s Track & Field Games Day in Canada. Ste. Foy, QC, Surrey, BC, and Toronto, ON are the other venues hosting HTFG Day events.
In addition, the PCC will host the NW Zone Trials for the 2011 Alberta Senior Games in Fairview in July. Athletes 55 years and older will be vying for spots on the Zone team in four running events, three throwing events, and a predicted time walk.
Over 250 athletes of all ages and abilities from across the Alberta and BC Peace, Edmonton, and the NWT are expected to compete. Full details and registration forms are posted at www.wolvesac.com. The entry deadline is Tuesday, May 10 at noon.
