Provincial Championship Triple for Local Tracksters

11 year old Logan Currier was one of six local athletes who competed in the 2019 Sherwood Park Track Classic (Athletics Alberta U16, U18, and Masters Championships). Currier took part in the U12 Quadrathlon. He won his heat in the 100m

Local track athletes Kobe Grocholski and Avery Sluik combined to win three provincial gold medals at the Athletics Alberta U16, U18, and Masters Track and Field Championships in Sherwood Park on the weekend.

Grocholski took an early lead in the U18 Mens 1500m and coasted to a comfortable victory in a time of 4:14.  In the U18 Mens 800m, Grocholski won this second gold medal of the weekend by kicking hard in the last 8om to eke out the victory in a time of 2 minutes flat.

Sluik won the U16 Girls 3 kg Hammer Throw with a toss of 37.03 metres.

In the non-championship U20 800m, Chris Nelissen placed a close third, clocking a time of 1:58.

Now that the provincial track season has ended, the focus shifts to regional and national championships.  Five Peace Country Wolves Athletics Club athletes (Chris Nelissen, Brandon Tufford, Joel Manz, Miguel Macedo, and Keyana Anderson (will be in Montreal this weekend to contest the Athletics Canada U2o and Senior National Championships.
