The GPRC Women’s Cross Country Running team came up huge on Saturday, delivering a season’s best performance at the 2016 CCAA National Cross Country Running Championship in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
The previously unranked Wolves had a breakthrough performance and finished tenth among the best college teams in the country.
Andrea Snider led the way with a 25th place performance. Maria Houle was close behind in 30th, followed by Kailey Bratland (5oth), Christie Shepherd (72nd), Brittany Duvall (82nd), and Ashley Camsell (95th).
A pair of Wolves men also took part. Brandon Wladyko improved 12 spots from his 2015 finish at Nationals with a 35th place finish. Jash Malmsten was 87th.
Also on Saturday, a pair of local contested the CIS XC Running Championships in Quebec City. Mirelle Martens, battling a stomach virus, hung in for 31st place finish. Her Trinity Western University team placed 3rd overall. Adam Lehners, representing MacEwan University, was 135th in the men’s race.
