Top Ten Finishers for Local Runners in Augustana XC Running Race

Kailey Bratland battled tough conditions at the 2016 Augustana Open.  She placed 17th amongst the college women.

A quartet of local runners had top 10 finishes in the ACAC #5  – The Augustana Open in Camrose on Saturday.

GPRC Wolves runners Brandon Wladyko placed 4th amongst the college men, while GPRC team-mate Maria Houle ran to a 7th place finish in the college women’s division.

Wolves Athletics Club runners also had some stellar results.  Jamie Wigmore was 8th in the open women’s division, while Hayden Hollowell placed 10th amongst the open men.

Other GPRC Wolves men’s placings included Josh Malmsten (22nd), Zach Malmsten (27th), and Jarrad St Arnault (44th).

Additional GPRC Wolves women completing the race included Christie Shepherd (16th), Kailey Bratland (17th), and Karina Manz (31st).

Adam Lehners, running for MacEwan University, was 24th in open men’s division.

In the team competition, the GPRC women placed 5th, while the men were 7th

Next up for the GPRC team is the ACAC XC Running Championships at Wapiti Nordic on October 29.

ASAA High School Provincials

Also on Saturday, a pair of local high schoolers contetsted the ASAA High School Provincial XC Running Championships in Cochrane.

Spirit River Regional Academy’s Eric Nooy placed 26th in the Senior Boys 6 km run.  PWA runner Lydia Steinke was 39th in the Junior Girls 3 km.  A number of other local runners were slated to compete, but poor road conditions on Friday morning prevented them from travelling.
