Second year runners Hayden Hollowell, Riley Wallace, and Jamie Wigmore all had strong finishes at ACAC #3 – The Concordia Open in Edmonton on Saturday.
In the mens 8km. Hollowell placed 5th in a time of 28:50, two places and 30 seconds ahead of Wallace. Other Wolves placers included Vaughn Marillier 26th, Dylan Zambonelli 31st, Ian Keefe 33rd, Nicholas Whalen 57th, and Rawat Gaurav 58th.
Assistant coach Joren Manz placed 17th among the Open runners.
In the team competition, the Wolves men were 4th. Lethbridge College placed first.
In the womens 5 km race, Wigmore led the way for the Wolves with a 5th place finish. Kayla Hardy and Amanda Patteson placed 15th and 16th respectively. Christie Shepherd 25th, Tori Furstenwerth 26th, Ashley Camsell 32nd, Kirsten Manz 34th, Emily Whalen 47th, Filiz Ozgur 50th, Calla Scott 57th, and Caryn Clark 61st were the other Wolves finishers.
St Joe’s student Danae Keddie placed fifth among the high school runners.
Like the men, the Wolves women also placed 4th in the team competition. SAIT was the winning school.
Next up for the Wolves team is the XC Relay at the Wapiti Nordic Ski Trails on Oct. 19. The ACAC Championships follow a week later in Edmonton on the same course as the Concordia Open.
