Local Athletes Shine at Alberta Summer Games

Wolves Athletics Club distance runners Brittany Duval and Kailey Bratland represented Zone 8 Peace Country at last week’s Alberta Summer Games in Airdrie.

Competing in her first AB Games and battling a knee injury, Duvall placed 6th in the 15000m in 5:18, less than a second off of her personal best time.  She also anchored the U17 Medley Relay team to a 6th place finishe.

Bratland, another ASG rookie, also ran in the 1500m, placing 8th in 5:24.  She also ran in the 800m (2:36) where she finished 10th, and the 400m (72 seconds), good for 13th place.

Peace Country athletes totaled 5 silver and 2 bronze in athletics at the Games.  Silver medal winners included Kelsey Wudkevich (U15 High Jump and U15 Pentathlon), Kelsey Bishop (U17 Heptathlon), Alexi Watson (U15 Triple Jump), and Cianna Forseille (U17 Javelin).  Bronze medals were won by Rylee Peters (U15 Pentathlon) and Kris Baird (U15 Discus).
