Grimshaw’s Angie Banack took down an 18 year old provincial record in the W45-49 shot put at the Wolves Athletics Club Mini Meet on Saturday at Legion Field.

Banack heaved the 4 kg shot 9.73m on her final throw breaking Liz McBlain’s 1996 mark of 9.44m.  Banack also had a 27.98m throw to win the Women’s Discus.

Although the Mini Meet attracted athletes of all ages from across the Peace, it was organized primarily as a tune up for the Zone 8 Alberta Summer Games Track & Field team. The Games take place in Airdrie from July 24 to July 27.
