2014 FOG XC Running Award Winners – You can dress them up nice, but …

The accolades continued on Thursday night for Wolves top two runners. At the 44th Annual Festival of Gold at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre, Hayden Hollowell was honoured as the 2013-14 GPRC Male Athlete of the Year. Jamie Wigmore, along with volleyball player Tonya Dueck, was named co-winner of the GPRC Female Athlete of the Year.

This is only the second time that two x-country runners in the same year have been named as the year’s best Wolves athletes. ACAC gold medalist Fred Setterington and basketball/xc standout Steph Ruch received AOY honours in 1999.

In addition to the winning the top prize, Hollowell, Wigmore and a number of other Wolves runners received awards:

XC Running Team Awards

Penny Thompson Memorial MVP X-C Running – Hollowell and Wigmore

Indoor Track and Field MVP – Hollowell and Wigmore

Roland Esposito “Team Guy” Award – Emily Whalen

Gurevitch and Burnham Scholarship – Hollowell

Wolves Academic Awards

Highest GPA – Tournanment Sport – Calla Scott and Wigmore

ACAC Awards

All Conference X-C Running – Riley Wallace, Hollowell, Wigmore

Individual X-C Running Silver Medal – Wigmore

Team X-C Running Bronze – Women’s XC Team (Wigmore, Amanda Patteson, Kayla Hardy, Christie Shepherd, Kirstin Manz, Tori Furstenwerth)

Indoor Track Races Gold – Wigmore (3),  Hollowell

Indoor Track Races Bronze – Hollowell, Womens 4 x 4 Relay (Wigmore, Whalen, Hardy, Patteson)

CCAA Awards

All Canadian – Wigmore

CCAA Nationals Tournament 1st Team All Star – Wigmore

CCAA All Academic – Wallace and Wigmore
