Pigs Fly, Hell Freezes Over and Van Tighem Runs an XC Race

Amazing stuff happened Saturday when Mike Van Tighem contested the SAIT XC Race

Amazing stuff happened Saturday when Mike Van Tighem contested the SAIT XC Race

For the first time since Whitesnake hit the top of the pop music charts, iconic Canadian track and field coach Mike Van Tighem entered a cross country running on Saturday in Calgary.

Contesting the SAIT Open at Confederation Park, VanTighem waged a spirited battle with Name Not Recorded before fading in the final lap of the hilly 8 km race to finish 81st in a field of 85.  He stopped the sundial in scorching time of 42:40.

Apart from muttering something about still having 5 years of CIS x-c eligibility remaining, Van Tighem was unavailable for further comment.

Runners everywhere are applauding the editors of Wolves AC for having the courage to publish the story that the “lamestream” media refused to cover.

Eventually, the results will be posted here.

I couldn’t find an appropriate pic, so we’ll default to a classic shot of the Lovely Sara Scott from back in the day.

Local junior and senior high school athletes from the Wolves Athletics Club have been active over the past two weeks in regional and provincial competitions.

At the NW Zone Track and Field Track and Field Championships in Grande Prairie on May 29 and 30 a number of long standing Zone records fell in the distance races races.  The grade 9 duo of Danae Keddie (St Joes) and Brittany Duval (Eaglesham) set new marks in the Senior Girls category.  Keddie clocked a time of 5:20 in the 1500m, while Duval ran 12:04 for the 3000m.  Keddie also won the 800m (2:37).
