Sexsmith’s Keyana Anderson (far right) placed third in the Women’s Discus at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games in Swift Current, SK
Sexsmith’s Keyana Anderson’s sixth round throw of 36.22m proved to be good enough to secure the bronze medal in the Women’s Discus at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games in Swift Current, SK on Saturday.
Under difficult, windy conditions, the 19 year old Anderson led the competition after three throws, but was overtaken in the final rounds by Alex Buhler (Manitoba, 38.68m, Gold) and Danielle Fedak (Saskatchewan, 36.75m, Silver).
2019 has been a breakthrough season for Anderson. Last month, she placed sixth in the U20 Discus at the Athletics Canada National Championships in Montreal.
The track and field competition at the Western Canada Summer Games wraps up today.
